Nursing
Yuma District Hospital provides a team of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nurse Aides and a Discharge Planner who deliver excellent nursing care with dedication and caring hearts. Our Patient Care Services Staff provide care to many specialty areas. Medical, Surgical, Emergency Room, Respiratory, Obstetrical, and Pharmacy services are provided to patients, of all age’s.
These dedicated professionals continue to enhance their education by attending classes and seminars to remain current with the latest healthcare changes. All RNs are Cardiac Trauma and Newborn certified. The Nursing staff strives to provide excellent quality care.
Inpatient Care
Acute and observation care hospitalization services are provided for a broad range of illnesses and for all patient ages. The staff are well trained to take care of all medical needs. Each patient has a private room. Rooms are quiet, inviting and soothing in an effort to promote and aid in the healing/recovery process, as well as to keep the focus on the healing effect of family and friends visiting.
Obstetric and Delivery
The physicians and nurses at Yuma District Hospital are extremely proud of this state of the art birthing center. The rooms are warm, comfortable and provide the atmosphere that parents are looking for when choosing a birthing facility to welcome their new addition into the world. Each room is equipped to meet all needs during the labor and delivery process, for both mother and infant, as well as for the first 24-48 hours after the birth. Each room is also equipped with a jetted tub to provide comfort and assist with the birthing process.
Swing Bed
This Medicare-based program allows Medicare patients to continue to receive care or rehabilitative services once their acute needs have been met. Admission into this program states that a patient must require a skilled nursing or rehabilitative service, according to Medicare guidelines. The goal with SwingBed is to get the patient back into their home and at or near their previous level of function. A few of the skilled services provided are Nursing Services, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy.
24 Hour Emergency Services
Emergency Services are available to all patients that present themselves for care of any type, on a 24- hours per day basis. Medical and Nursing staff are well-trained on the latest techniques, knowledge, stabilization, trauma, stroke and cardiac care, transfer and equipment that allow care to be provided for any illness or health event that occurs.
Yuma District Hospital is a certified Level IV Trauma Center and has held this certification since 2000. We also house one of 5 CO-DOC cameras placed in Colorado to aid Stroke and neurological patients. Yuma District Hospital is recognized as a Stroke Registry Site by the Colorado Stroke Advisory Board. We provide the most progressive care for our trauma, stroke and cardiac patients according to nationally accepted guidelines for treatment of these occurrences.
Sleep Studies
Sleep Studies are provided at Yuma District Hospital, with a physician order, through Mobile Sleep Studies. Sleep Studies are ordered to assist with diagnosing respiratory and other concerns that may be interfering with sleep and therefore activities of daily living. Treatment plans, based on the information received, are then set in place to aid the patient.
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy treatments are available and administered by a certified chemotherapy Registered Nurse. This RN is trained specifically in the administration of these agents as well as in the oncology processes. The RN will work closely with the patient and the oncologist to ensure that all needs are met.
